Can I buy reading glasses @ the store w/o going to the eye doctor?
I'm a broke college student...w/student insurance that just offers a small discount for seeing an eye doctor. My eyes feel strained when I look @ the computer & read. I've always had perfect vision except for this. I do get up & take a break away from the pc often, but it doesn't help. I work @ an office where I get extra exposure to the computer, so that doesn't help. Do the glasses you see @ Border's (& such) work for eye strain?? Or do I need to go to the eye doctor?

You sure can. Just go to your local pharmacy and they usually have a selection of certain strengths. Some are 2X some are 2.5X etc. Basically they are just magnifying glasses in a frame. But, if you want more precise reading glasses an Optomitrist will be able to help you. I would try the Pharmacy glasses first. Grab a magazine off the rack and take it by where they have the glasses. They are usually by the eye contact cleaning chemicals. Take a pair of glasses and try reading the magazine. You might have to try on a few different pairs until you find a pair that fits and is at the correct magnification for you. If you still have problems see an Optomitrist. But, try the pharmacy pair first. OK, take care and good luck.
